What participants will gain

  • Mentorship from working AI engineers and researchers
  • Hands-on Small Language Model projects
  • Real-world AI career pathways

Curriculum

The cohort follows Google DeepMind’s AI Research Foundations Course 1–4, covering:

  • The mathematical and statistical foundations of modern AI
  • Building and training small language models
  • Generative AI techniques and applications
  • Capstone projects applying the methods to real-world African contexts

Why this cohort matters

Cohort 10 marks nearly a decade of community-led AI learning in Nigeria. It’s also the most ambitious curriculum we’ve run to date - a structured Google DeepMind partnership that brings world-class course material directly to African learners, taught and supported by the same community that has run the previous nine cohorts.

As with previous cohorts, the programme is free for accepted learners.
