Our story
From a community study group to an organisation.
TRI AI was founded to address the growing need for accessible and locally relevant AI education in Africa. What began as a community initiative - a Saturday study group in Lagos - has evolved into a structured organisation supporting learning, research, and innovation across the continent.
Through programmes like TRI AI Saturdays (formerly AI Saturdays Lagos) and initiatives like the Sauti Project, TRI AI continues to build an ecosystem where learners, researchers, and collaborators can grow and contribute meaningfully.

Mission
Democratising AI in Africa.
To democratise artificial intelligence by building African AI communities that enable learning, research, and the development of AI solutions for local and global impact.
Every programme we run, every paper we publish, and every dataset we release is part of this mission - making the field accessible to people who would otherwise be locked out, and ensuring African contexts are represented in the technologies that shape the future.
Vision
Be at the forefront of AI
To be at the forefront of building self-sustaining, research-driven, and globally recognised Artificial Intelligence innovation in Africa.
